United States Minority Chamber

Nuclear Emergency Preparedness: “The Challenges and Assistance Required Following a Nuclear Attack”

Miami, Florida – Aug 6, 2026, Evertise AI PR, The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the confirmation of Joselito Ignacio, Acting Director & Public Health Advisor of the Office of Emerging Threats (OET), Response Directorate, Office of Response and Recovery, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as a featured participant in the Miami Emergency Preparedness & Security Summit 2026.

The one-day Summit will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the prestigious Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel in Miami, Florida.

Mr. Ignacio will participate at 10:00 a.m. in the forum:

NUCLEAR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

“The Challenges and Assistance Required Following a Nuclear Attack”

The forum will be presented as an executive conversation with Doug Mayorga, President and CEO of the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce, addressing one of the most sensitive and consequential issues included in this year’s Summit.

For approximately one hour, the conversation will focus on emergency preparedness, public health considerations, response coordination, assistance, and the challenges communities and institutions may face following a major nuclear or radiological emergency.

The discussion will focus on responsible preparedness and public safety, not fear or speculation.

“Having Mr. Joselito Ignacio, Acting Director and Public Health Advisor of FEMA’s Office of Emerging Threats, participate in this Summit represents a significant milestone for our mission,” said Doug Mayorga, President and CEO of the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce.

“Discussing the possibility of a nuclear emergency is not a subject that most people encounter in their daily lives. Yet the subject increasingly appears in public discussions around the world. Our purpose is not to create fear. Our purpose is to promote knowledge, preparedness, responsible leadership, and a better understanding of how institutions and communities can prepare for an extraordinary emergency.”

The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce considers the participation of FEMA leadership especially important because emergency preparedness requires cooperation among government agencies, public health institutions, emergency management organizations, public safety agencies, businesses, and communities.

A PRIVATE, INVITATION-ONLY SUMMIT

The Miami Emergency Preparedness & Security Summit 2026 is a private, invitation-only event and is not open to the general public.

The Summit will bring together selected leaders from the public and private sectors, including emergency preparedness professionals, public officials, business executives, healthcare representatives, public safety institutions, nonprofit organizations, and strategic partners.

Due to the sensitive nature of the topics and the participation of multiple organizations involved in emergency preparedness and security, attendance will be subject to a registration and due-diligence process.

The official program and detailed agenda will be provided to approved registered participants.

Registration information may be requested at:

A FULL DAY OF EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND SECURITY

The Summit will feature eight specialized conversations and presentations focused on the major challenges facing communities and businesses before, during, and after a catastrophic event.

Topics will include:

  • Hurricane preparedness;
  • Extreme weather and emergency response;
  • Earthquake preparedness;
  • Tsunami and coastal emergency scenarios;
  • Nuclear emergency preparedness;
  • Public health and emergency response;
  • Business continuity and economic recovery;
  • Protection of critical assets and infrastructure; and
  • Public-private coordination during and after a major crisis.

The program will combine executive conversations, expert presentations, and question-and-answer sessions. Participating in presenters will have the opportunity to share practical guidance, preparedness considerations, response strategies, and information intended to help families, businesses, and institutions better understand how to protect lives and critical assets during an emergency.

The Summit will conclude with an exclusive corporate reception for invited participants, speakers, and distinguished guests.
