We let it go when the Los Angeles Rams didn’t immediately get signature offseason addition help for his troubled knee during training camp and waited until a season-opening performance he called “the worst version of myself” to finally get the matter addressed.

Garrett is now eligible to return from the injured reserve list but there is no absolute certainty that will happen this week following his Sept. 14 surgery.

We also looked the other way when the Rams took their travel scheduling advice to Australia from an Instagram trip planner (not really, it was coach Sean McVay) and were sluggish and generally a step slow in the season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers because they traveled across the planet 36 hours before a game while the 49ers spent a week in Australia acclimating.

RAMS’ DISASTER IN AUSTRALIA RAISES THE QUESTION: SHOULD THE TEAM HAVE FOLLOWED THE 49ERS THERE EARLIER?

But we cannot unsee what happened on Sunday. We cannot forget or forgive the 18-16 loss to the upstart Arizona Cardinals.

At home.

Marking a second consecutive loss at SoFi Stadium.

The Rams are now trolling the people who picked them as the Super Bowl favorites before the season began. They’re making us — yes, me included – look dumb as they’ve piled curious, questionable, disappointing things atop each other en route to last place in the NFC West.

SHAWNE MERRIMAN SAYS RAMS’ AARON DONALD-MYLES GARRETT COMBO IS ‘INSANE’ FOR NFL OFFENSES: ‘PICK YOUR POISON’

We’re a bunch of dummies because we thought the Rams would be a steamroller.

But they’re a household flat iron.

“You know,” McVay said after Sunday’s loss, “we won’t win a game unless we figure out how not to beat ourselves.”

The Rams have talent. Their quarterback was the NFL’s MVP last season. Garrett is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and they coaxed Aaron Donald out of retirement long enough to delay his eventual induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Did I mention they added not one but both of the Kansas City Chiefs starting cornerbacks from last season?

2026 NFL SEASON PREDICTIONS: DIVISION WINNERS, PLAYOFF TEAMS AND SUPER BOWL PICK REVEALED

They made all these moves and have all this name recognition on a team that went to the NFC Championship game last season.

So, you’re darn right us dummies picked them as a Super Bowl fave. But that logical choice came with the inconvenient fact that teams must actually play games to prove their worth.

And the Rams have not only failed to do that, but failed in epic fashion.

This is a club that held a 16-0 halftime lead against the Denver Broncos in Week 3 and collapsed in the second half on the way to a 30-26 loss.

This is a team that accomplished something never done in NFL history against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. The Rams amassed over 400 total yards, gained 30-plus first downs, scored five touchdowns, converted 50 percent of their third downs, and committed zero turnovers against the Bills.

They still lost, 37-34.
